in the Triad Area for a majority of his life and looks forward to giving back to the community that means so much to him. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Winston-Salem State University, and has remained in the area after his graduation. He has taken a particular interest in Orthopedic care, including earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. He has continued his specialist education with a two year clinical residency in orthopedics, and Board Certification in Orthopedics, July 2020 a distinction held by less than 5% of all Physical Therapists. He has been involved with low back pain research that is inclusive of data collection, treatment of multiple diagnosis of low back pain, chronic pain, and nerve irritation. He has worked in multiple settings including Acute care, Skilled nursing facilities, Inpatient rehab, but his passion is for outpatient orthopedics. During her graduate studies, she worked with patients aged 18-70, including large-scale high school athletics and Division I collegiate athletics. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Medicine, a minor in Nutrition, and pursued special studies in research of virtual gait training and response, from the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) in 2016. Shameka’s professional medical experience also includes certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic in eastern North Carolina (earned in 2019), and experience as an optometric technician with a focus on diseases such as metabolic syndrome, glaucoma, and keratoconus. In July 2021, Shameka started working at O’Halloran Rehabilitation, where she immediately began working alongside Dr. O’Halloran to assess and treat patients ranging in age from 7 to 97. Her patients include athletes in the Greensboro Tennis Program, as well as other athletes and non-athletes with varying skill levels and treatment goals. Shameka also has experience with professional-level athletes and served as the Head Athletic Trainer for an arena football team in the National Arena League. Shameka served as the primary athletic trainer for women’s soccer, men's and women's wrestling, lacrosse, and esports at Greensboro College, a private Division III college. During her tenure, she was promoted from an Assistant Athletic Trainer to an Associate Athletic Trainer and Head Football Athletic Trainer. Outside of healthcare and Kinesiology, Shameka has spent the past 10 years serving in various professional and volunteer roles in the hospitality industry, demonstrating her passion for and skill in providing an exceptional level of customer service. He earned his post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Temple University. Dr. O’Halloran has studied orthopedic and sports therapy abroad in Australia and New Zealand. Dr. O’Halloran is the sole owner of O’Halloran Rehabilitation, a division of O’Halloran Consulting, LLC. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He is credentialed with the McKenzie Institute in the mechanical diagnosis and treatment of the spine and has extensive post-graduate training in manipulative therapy of the spine and extremities. He is a certified SCTM-1 Practitioner with certificates in SMT-1, SMT-2, and SMT-3 with the American Spinal Manipulative Institute. Dr. O’Halloran is also a certified functional capacity evaluator using the Blankenship Method. He has presented over 1,500 times locally and internationally on various orthopedic and sports medicine topics. In 2014, John received the Clinician of the Year and Excellence in Clinical Practice Award by the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association. Recently, Dr. O’Halloran’s investigational work on the earlier facilitation of gait in the Total Knee Arthroplasty patient has been cited in a peer-reviewed journal publication. Throughout his career, Dr O’Halloran has been a frequent invited presenter at National Rehabilitation Conferences. In 2024, John was an invited speaker at an International Orthopedic Joint Arthroplasty Conference in Assiut, Egypt.
